MARCH MINI ALBUM TUTORIAL

Hello, and welcome to my third mini album tutorial, has anyone received the February Trends Mini Album magazine? I was lucky to get my “Words that describe you” mini album published there, and for this months tutorial I would like to share with you the steps to make your own.

For the tutorial I’ll be making a new mini album about my First Cousins, I have a total of 18. At the beginning of the year I was very fortunate to get a picture with each of my cousins from my moms side of the family, I have a goal to do the same with my cousins from my dads side of the family to complete my album.
Supplies I used:
Most of my supplies are from my favorite Pink Paislee paper collection Queen Bee.

Maya Road Square Canvas Binder Album
Pink Paislee: Pattern Paper, Die Cut Paper, Ribbon Pleats, Cork Buttons, Flip Notes and Press On.
American Crafts: Thickers
Others: Glimmer Mist, Chalk Ink, Assorted Brads, Ribbon, Cotton Twine

Lets start with the album cover, since the inside will be visible I recommend that it gets painted, take the canvas cover off and use your preferred type of paint, I applied 3 coats of Glimmer Mist with a paint brush, make sure you also paint the edges, do the same with the edges of the chipboard pages.
Now I’ll share with you a fun technique I learned at an online class taught by Laura McCollough, I was surprised on how easy it is to apply the Press On to Canvas, I like to work with canvas but I’m not very skilled when it comes to painting, reason why I think this other option to dress up the canvas cover is great.
Make sure your cover is on a flat surface, start applying the press on from one corner using a bone folder; you’ll notice how it transfers to the canvas because of the color change on the paper.
The cover decoration continues with two pieces of pattern paper, one with a border punch edge to add a little extra decoration, a Journal Tag, the Pleated Ribbon, Cotton Twine, and Brads; it is important that you make this separate, once it is all put together you can adhere it to your cover and add any other extra embellishment.
Make your title with Thickers or any other alphas of your preference. Just as an extra detail you can add a piece of the plaited ribbon to the books spine.
The inside pages have a simple and easy design. Coordinate a piece of pattern paper with one of the Flip Notes. Add a piece of ribbon on the corner opposite to the binder holes and tie a piece of Cotton Twine around the top part of the page.
Here is a finished page.
Using Thickers include a name or title on each of your pages.
For the photos I used PicNik to get that cool Polaroid frame. For the girls pages I added a few feminine details to the original design with some cute flowers and gems.
This album has two Canvas Pockets, The family name will go on the front part and on the back part I’ll add another photo with the same clean and simple design I used for the chipboard pages. The pockets have a snap in the front that will keep secure anything extra you want to include in the album, I'll be putting my journaling notes there.
Here is the finished album cover, as extra embellishments I added the cork buttons, a prima rose and three different thicker fonts.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and get inspired to make your own, using my album themes or any other topic that fits your life.

I’ll include this tutorial in my Mini Album Group at our Scrappy Community, become a member and remember you can upload photos of your album creations there; I would love to see what you make.
Have a Fantastic Day!
