Beginner Art Journal page

Hi!  It's Julie here today with a little peek inside my attempt to get back into art journaling.  I've always enjoyed working in my art journals but I will admit that it got pushed into the background when things got busy.  I really enjoyed art journaling, so I am determined to carve out some time and do it.

Today I am showing you how to use Faber Castell Gelatos to create an art journal background.  If you've read a previous post on this supply, you'll see how awesome they are for art journalers!

For today's project, I used the following Gelato colors:

(Red cherry, tangerine, green tea, and mango)

I started with white gesso and primed my page (you'll see two pages primed in this pic.  I only worked with one).

My art journal is an old book I got from a garage sale's free box.  :)  I really love using old books as art journals.  I have a total of 3 art journals started.  This one has been neglected awhile so I'm giving it some love now.

In the video below, you will see part one of how I layed down my color to make a background page.

Here's a look at the page from the end of the first video:

I like how it came out here.  Once dry, I proceeded to complete my page.

Part two of the process:

It was a lot of fun to just do whatever!!  That's what I love about art journaling.  No rules really.

Thanks for stopping by!
