NSD tag challenge winner!

Happy Monday to all :) today we'd like to announce the winner of our day long tag challenge on National Scrapbooking Day this past Saturday - Erica!!  Erica, thank you for taking part and we'll send some goodies out to you soon :)

We'd also like to remind everyone that it's not too late to join in the challenge fun! This week's challenge is to join in our postcard swap by midnight on Saturday (California time!) - any theme that you like, but the card should measure about 4"x6".  We may have to match you with an international swap partner so be aware before you enter!  Embellish to your heart's content but make sure it can fit into an envelope :)

Let us know by midnight on Saturday through one of our platforms (comment on the blog, message on Facebook, tweet on Twitter or e-mail at 'thescrappytree' (at) 'hotmail.com) that you are ready to mail yours out and we'll give you the details of your swap partner!

Happy NSD!! TST challenges

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!  I'm sure a lot of you will be spending today making/crafting/scrapping :) We're joining in the festivities with a few little challenges of our own  :)

Firstly, as mentioned in yesterday's post, you have until midnight tonight (California time to give everyone a chance!) to decorate a tag, take a picture and either leave a link to it in the comments to this post, or e-mail it to us at 'thescrappytree' (at) 'hotmail.com - we have some prizes to give away, so join in if you can!!  It can be decorated in any style you prefer, using any supplies you have to hand, but it must be finished today!

Our second challenge is going to be running for a little longer - this week is also National Postcard Week and what do you do with postcards? You send them! The challenge is to decorate a postcard (measuring approx 4"x 6") in a style of your choosing; you can embellish to your heart's content if you prefer, but it must fit into an envelope.  Let us know that you're finished and we'll sort you out with a swap partner!  We love getting happy mail here at The Scrappy Tree and we hope you do too!  You have until midnight on Saturday 12th May to finish your postcard and get in touch with us either here in the comments section, via e-mail at 'thescrappytree' (at) 'hotmail.com, tweet us on Twitter, or message us through Facebook - you can message TheScrappyTree or contact us at our Facebook group.

Tags ahoy!! Your chance to join in :)

Today I have two more tags to share with you, and a chance for you to get taggy with us for National Scrapbooking Day tomorrow!

These tags were inked up with spray inks and lots of water with some flourishes in brown StazOn and then embellished :)

This first tag uses some Tim Holtz stamps and a few SEI travel themed die-cuts, and is outlined in black and white Posca pen.

The second tag has a Kaisercraft clock rub-on in the centre, some Crafty Individuals acetate wings, some Tim Holtz sprockets and game spinners and a sentiment stamped with those little letter stamps you can pick up in the craft shop :)  also outlined in black and white Posca pen (love love LOVE these!)

And now your chance to join in! We know a lot of you will be busy tomorrow taking part in challenges for National Scrapbooking Day and we thought we'd join in Scrappy Tree style!  We challenge you to create a tag during the day tomorrow, and by the end of the day add a link to a picture of your tag in the comments of tomorrow's post, or send a pic to thescrappytree (at) hotmail.com (end of the day means midnight on Saturday in California!)

May Day here! Our cause for May, and NSD

Welcome to May scrappy folks, can you believe it's here already??  Waiting for the weather to catch up with the calendar here in Wales but hopefully the sun will be back out soon :)

This month we are supporting mental health awareness; it's estimated that 1 in 4 of us will suffer from a mental health issue at some time in our life, but there is a lot of stigma and a lot of people feel they have to keep their problems to themselves - it's not always good to do this! Talk is good! :) keep talking people, it's what makes the world go round :)

Often, people suffering with mental health issues can become isolated, but in the UK there are places funded by the mental health charity MIND which provide support and social contact for people who feel that no one else understands.

This month we urge you to reach out to any one you think might be struggling, because they might just need a sympathetic ear and a little of your time :) and if you're able to we've added the link to donate to MIND here - they really do offer an invaluable service to many people and are a great cause to support :) thanks for reading :)

So on to scrapping!  We are celebrating National Scrapbooking Day this Saturday (for our American friends and anyone else who wants to join in!) and if you've participated in this event before, you'll know there will be a lot of events going on during the day, not least here at The Scrappy Tree!
