MARCH MINI ALBUM TUTORIAL
Hello, and welcome to my third mini album tutorial, has anyone received the February Trends Mini Album magazine? I was lucky to get my “Words that describe you” mini album published there, and for this months tutorial I would like to share with you the steps to make your own.
For the tutorial I’ll be making a new mini album about my First Cousins, I have a total of 18. At the beginning of the year I was very fortunate to get a picture with each of my cousins from my moms side of the family, I have a goal to do the same with my cousins from my dads side of the family to complete my album. Most of my supplies are from my favorite Pink Paislee paper collection Queen Bee.
Maya Road Square Canvas Binder Album
Pink Paislee: Pattern Paper, Die Cut Paper, Ribbon Pleats, Cork Buttons, Flip Notes and Press On.
American Crafts: Thickers
Others: Glimmer Mist, Chalk Ink, Assorted Brads, Ribbon, Cotton Twine
Lets start with the album cover, since the inside will be visible I recommend that it gets painted, take the canvas cover off and use your preferred type of paint, I applied 3 coats of Glimmer Mist with a paint brush, make sure you also paint the edges, do the same with the edges of the chipboard pages.
Now I’ll share with you a fun technique I learned at an online class taught by Laura McCollough, I was surprised on how easy it is to apply the Press On to Canvas, I like to work with canvas but I’m not very skilled when it comes to painting, reason why I think this other option to dress up the canvas cover is great.
The cover decoration continues with two pieces of pattern paper, one with a border punch edge to add a little extra decoration, a Journal Tag, the Pleated Ribbon, Cotton Twine, and Brads; it is important that you make this separate, once it is all put together you can adhere it to your cover and add any other extra embellishment.Make your title with Thickers or any other alphas of your preference. Just as an extra detail you can add a piece of the plaited ribbon to the books spine.
The inside pages have a simple and easy design. Coordinate a piece of pattern paper with one of the Flip Notes. Add a piece of ribbon on the corner opposite to the binder holes and tie a piece of Cotton Twine around the top part of the page.
Here is a finished page.
For the girls pages I added a few feminine details to the original design with some cute flowers and gems.
This album has two Canvas Pockets, The family name will go on the front part and on the back part I’ll add another photo with the same clean and simple design I used for the chipboard pages. The pockets have a snap in the front that will keep secure anything extra you want to include in the album, I'll be putting my journaling notes there.
Here is the finished album cover, as extra embellishments I added the cork buttons, a prima rose and three different thicker fonts.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and get inspired to make your own, using my album themes or any other topic that fits your life.I’ll include this tutorial in my Mini Album Group at our Scrappy Community, become a member and remember you can upload photos of your album creations there; I would love to see what you make.

Inspiration Monday: St. Patrick's Day twist
Hello readers! With St. Patrick's Day coming up, I thought this month's Inspiration Challenge should focus on that! I did a google search of St. Patrick's Day images and found this cute one to share with you today. For the challenge, use this image on any project and upload to our
NING GROUP by next Monday! We'd love to see how you use this image.
I must admit, I was under the gun a bit to whip something up quick for this post today but I thought a tag might be pretty fun. I used green scraps for the tag base, an EK Success border punch, a black scrap, the Lucky image, KaiserCraft gemstones, and Offray ribbon to complete my tag.
Don't forget to comment on our blog this week. Di is going to be selecting daily winners from our blog comments!
Sunday, Mod Podge Funday!
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend and getting some scrappy time in. Today I wanted to share a few projects I have been working on.
The first is fun and simple and would cost about $8 for you to duplicate. I started with a bare wood Eiffel Tower from Michaels. I think it ran about $4.99 but they have many different things to choose from, ranging from $1- $6.
The thing I like about this is you can do this with your real stubs or tickets or other things you may collect while on a trip and really get to appreciate them in a piece that may just hang out in your house and remind you of your fun time. As I mentioned you can choose from lots of different bare wood items from frames to memory boxes.
Next up, my tribute to Gayle's St. David's Day Challenge, if you haven't seen, check it out here, she found some cool little goodies for the prize! The challenge was to create a project using green and yellow, two of my favs!
I went with an altered canvas, about 8x11". I started with a beautiful piece of pattern paper. I knew I wanted to do a few flowers, so I decided to use some embroidering floss as the flower stems and did that first before I got out the handy Mod Podge (of course) adding a full layer above and below the PP to attach it to the canvas. I Let it dry then added my embellishments. I cut out a few flowers, added some doodling, some rub-on's, dangle ball ribbon, a few butterflies out of book text, and tried a few painting texture techniques.
Here you can see the Bubble wrap I used to add some dimension as well as a roller stamp in another shade of yellow for more texture and shading. I doodled on the flowers and butterflies to add more interest to them and to tie them into the black rub-on's I used at the bottom of the piece.
This is a good shot of the screen technique, where I brushed on a layer of green craft paint, rested a small screen on the paint while it was drying but picked it up before it stuck permanently, instant circle design!
Those are my Sunday Funday projects, hope you get inspired to break out the Mod Podge and have some fun To learn more about Mod Podge or just see some really fun project ideas, go HERE!
Lastly, please help our friends in Japan if you can and continue to hold them in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with this terrible tragedy. Click on the picture to learn more about ways you can help.

Have a blessed day.

Resolution Tag Book March
Remember the Resolution Tag Book Gayle made Here? Resolutions are so easy to forget as the months go by, that is why I liked her project and decided to make my own.
My book is small because I only have four resolutions.
The home of my book is this 7 Gypsies Match Box that I decorated using Chatterbox paper and embellishments.
Weekend Getaways; is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, and I am hoping to save enough and accomplish at least two this year.
Minimize Multitasking; multitasking is something I used to be proud of, until I started to get very forgetful, I read that when you multitask your attention is divided and that causes short term memory and stress. As women, we do so much that multitasking is a MUST in our daily life, so I am not saying I am going to stop, I’m just going to try to do less of it.
Minimalistic Habits; Last year my husband and I moved from a 2 bedroom to a one bedroom apartment, for that reason I had to get rid of a lot of stuff we barely or never used. Because of our new small space when I go to the store before I buy something instead of asking myself “do I really need this” I wonder “where am I going to put this”. In a few months we’ll be moving again to a bigger apartment, and I really like my new forced lifestyle of not buying unnecessary things, if I am able to accomplish this, because of the savings I’ll be able to make my first resolution a reality ;)
Emotional Healing; this is the most important of all my resolutions, and it is one that I’ve already been working on.
Share you resolutions with us, become a member of our Scrappy Community and upload pics of your tag book.Have you heard that March is TST’s Fan Appreciation month? There has been a daily scrappy supply giveaway, Kristin already announced the 7 lucky winners from our Facebook page, I heard that this month Gayle is monitoring our Twitter account and next week I’ll be checking our blog, so if you have not become a follower yet what are you waiting for, and start leaving comments to increase your possibilities to win (hint hint ;)
