June Inspiration Challenge

Good morning! Does this picture make you think Summer? It sure does for me! This month's inspiration comes from The Pottery Barn and it made me want to create! I am hoping this image of these Summer umbrellas inspire you today! To play along with the challenge, let this pic inspire you and upload your creation (card, journal page, scrapbook page, etc.) to our Scrappy Tree Ning Group by the end of Friday!

Quiet time at The Scrappy Tree...

Hi everyone! You may have noticed The Scrappy Tree has been a little quiet lately - due to some things happening on both sides of the pond we are having to take some down-time for now, but we'll be back with a vengeance very soon ;) and looking forward to visiting you all for a catch-up. Thanks for all your support up until now, we're very grateful and have been really lucky to have the support of such a great bunch of creative people.

Wahoo! It's Art Journal Friday at The Scrappy Tree! After a quiet month on the blog, we're all ready to get creative!

If you haven't played along before, this is a weekend long art journal challenge - create a page or pages along this month's theme and if you want to share then you can post at the group on our Ning site, which you can find here. Always lots of love left for all who decide to play :)

This month's theme is 'animated' - what lights you up and makes you feel excited? You could find some animated images you love and collage them, or try drawing some of your own! I fell in love with an image I found in a magazine and knew I just had to use it :) have fun!

May's Inspiration Challenge

Are you ready for a bit of inspiration today?? I know the weather lately affected my choice for inspiration. We have begun to see the sun ALOT and it has been absolutely wonderful to see how bright the sun has made our days. When I saw the Flowering Pasture Blouse at http://www.anthropologie.com/, I just knew this was the perfect inspiration for this month.


If you are new to this challenge, let me tell you how it works. You will be prompted with an image as an inspirational jumping off point. Where this image takes you is up to you. You can make a scrapbook page, card, altered item, anything!! You have until Friday evening to upload your creation to our Ning site. This is a challenge that is just for fun. We'd love to have you participate and leave feedback for the challenge takers as well!

Here's my take on the Inspirational image:

I loved how the shirt had such a bright yellow and the white made it stand out even more so I primarily drew inspiration from the colors in the shirt. Supplies Used: Webster's Pages Paper, Hero Arts stamps, blue ink, scalloped paper from DCWV, ribbons from personal stash, brads from The Paper Studio.

Art Journal Friday

Running a little late with Art Journal Friday this month, but it's May Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK so you've got an extra day! :) This challenge will be running from Saturday to Monday, so upload your pictures to the Ning site by the end of the day on Monday if you'd like to share. This one is just for fun!

This month's theme is change - right now where I live, the weather is finally taking a turn for the better after the harsh winter and you can feel that the air is warmer and see that the plants are starting to come out of hiding.

What does the change in seasons mean to you? Can you see the differences in the great outdoors where you live? Or are there things that you can do and places you can go at this time of year that are meaningful to you? Are you noticing how different everything looks in the sunshine? Or are you eagerly looking forward to the change in the seasons because it hasn't arrived yet?

Make a page this weekend, and if you want to share it with us come and upload your pics to the Art Journal Friday group at our Ning site by the end of the day on Monday.
